Meditation is a topic that can create confusion for some, but it is not at all as complicated as it seems. There is indeed a profound benefit in taking part in this spiritual practice!
It helped me tremendously when healing my body back from illness, and is beneficial for all health conditions. Check out how it's done, what it is good for and how it relieves stress below!

Meditating definitely hits home for me, as it literally saved me when suffering paralyzing anxiety during my harshest bout of adrenal fatigue. As some of you may already know, I suffered a massive adrenal burnout in my late 20's that left me bed ridden for weeks, and healing myself for the next 2 years! I have written a post on adrenal fatigue for more details on that but weak adrenal glands comes with many depleting and utterly exhausting symptomology, like all other health conditions. Anxiety and insomnia were of the top most unbearable ones for me. Meditating was so incredibly healing for me, and honestly at times the only way I could get through a day. For anyone who is suffering from anything, trust me when I say that meditating does wonders! Many can be skeptical of its efficacy or perhaps just simply aren't sure how to really do it properly. To me, there is no "right way" to meditate. There are a few basic principles to follow, but each person must connect with themselves and find the way most beneficial for them.
Generally, the idea behind meditating is to connect within and rebalance your energy circuits. Many may not realize that oftentimes blocked energy flow plays the most major role in many of our health issues. By sitting with yourself and focusing solely on deep breathing, the idea is to clear your mind of all thoughts and rid stagnant negative energy from your body. Calming the nervous system and allowing the body to feel ultimate peace and rest contributes massively in triggering inner healing. I have always put such a huge importance on the connection and importance of balance within the body both spiritually and emotionally, as well as physically.
Everything about our world is so incredibly stressful and on the go, and we barely have moments in a day to sit with ourselves and re-center. Something that is very damaging to our well-being long-term. It is essential to slow the pace and connect with yourself as the soul that you are. Life is busy but we must make time for relaxing and peaceful moments. Our internal system requires this for optimal health and wellness. Meditating was something I only starting doing later in life, and truly saw the mind-boggling benefits when I was as sick as I had ever been and meditating to help heal my illness.
I would sit on my yoga mat on the floor of my bedroom, as that was as far as I could make it at that time. I would sit in front of my full-length mirror beside my open window, stare into my eyes straight to my soul and tell myself I would heal from this. I would tell my body to just hold on a little longer and that I was sorry for not taking better care of it earlier. That I was doing all I could nutritionally and emotionally to rebalance it, and my spirit. Then I would turn and stare out the window to the trees, sun and sky, appreciating the beauty of it all. I would sit cross-legged with the palms of my hands overlapping each other on my chest, close my eyes and begin deep breathing. Inhaling slowly, but to fill up my lungs completely, hold for a couple seconds, then exhale slowly. Concentrating on just that for as long as it took until I would feel my anxiety dissipating. I would continue until it was fully gone.
It was miraculous really, nothing else could rid it like that and make me feel so enlightened. It made me realize more than ever in my life, how essential it is to incorporate meditating into my everyday routine, ill or not. That experience honestly changed me. The respect I gained for my mind, body and soul's wellness through meditation, is unbeatable. Sometimes I meditate and don't fully achieve clearing all thoughts from my mind, and you may not either, and that's okay! Sometimes we have more difficulty some days than others, perhaps we are not as committed that day. Just sitting with yourself, deep breathing and giving yourself some personal "self-love time", can be just as beneficial though. If you've never tried or don't find you are successful when you do, as I said, there is no right or wrong way. Taking time for yourself, in a calm, tranquil environment without disruption, is so incredibly healing nonetheless.
My all-time favorite way is to get out in nature. A quiet area somewhere, sitting on the grass, facing water and greenery. I listen to the birds chirp and just breathe in the fresh air smelling all the wonderful scents. Something about vibing with Mother Nature just does it for me! I bring my little speaker, put on some spa/hang-drum music, and just connect to myself and the earth. I find it changes my day so much especially when I find myself having those days where EVERYTHING seems to be going wrong! I urge you all to give it a try, whether you are sick and trying to heal, sad from a traumatic event, or you are perfectly well and just want an extra boost of positivity. Trust me, you won't be disappointed! Find your "Zen" place, whether it be on some grassy knoll or just a cozy room in your house. Anywhere that will give you some uninterrupted peaceful time works. You can sit with yourself in silence, with soothing music or following a guided meditation video. As much as others in your life need your love, your soul does too, so don't forget about it!
Meditating is just one of many ways to slow down, calm your system and connect more introspectively. We should all focus more on taking that time to unwind and rebalance. Soak up the sun, breathe in fresh air, look up at the endless sky and take long nature walks (barefoot is always best). Just connect and vibe with your planet, because it has everything you need to have ultimate vitality, be truly happy and to heal from anything you may be suffering from. Appreciate the beauty that is within you and all around you on this earth we share with so many other living creatures!
